The Classes

The Spanish dances are amongst the most varied and technically developed styles of dancing that a single country has produced. Flamenco is one of the most exciting dance forms in the world. It involves a whole range of skills, from the intricate hand control of playing the castanets to the foot-stamping fun of dancing. It offers a great alternative to more conventional styles such as ballet or jazz.

Children’s classes
All school-aged boys and girls of any ability are welcome to our Monday classes. Syllabus work is involved but these classes are not based on working towards exams. The emphasis is on enjoying
the activity, improve rhythm, balance and co-ordination.

Adult classes
Adult Beginners Flamenco classes take place on a Monday evening. Classes are suitable for total novices as well as those with some experience. These classes are taught by Anastasia and include half an hour of technique work and half hour of choreographed dancing, following parts of the Spanish Dance Society syllabus.

Private lessons
For those who want to take their training more seriously and follow the exam route, private classes are offered for individuals and groups. These classes are structured by the Spanish Dance Society syllabus and teach the foundations needed for Flamenco dancing.

With a special emphasis on presentation, musicality and accuracy of movement the examinations offer a reward for all the hard work in the form of certified grades, similar to the RDA ballet examinations.

Private lessons take place after school at Anastasia’s own dance studio. Please contact her
for more details.
